Andreas Dahn’s combined professional experience in storytelling and visual effects (VFX) is a rare catch.
After first internships in practical effects, he has been working as a VFX artist in Germany and India. His credits include the Emmy-awarded series GAME OF THRONES, Wes Anderson’s GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 and the Oscar-nominated BBC short THE GRUFFALO.
At the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg he studied film directing and made multiple short films. He was awarded with scholarships at the University of California (UCLA) and the European Film Academy (EFA). His thesis film DER SANDMANN, based on the famous German gothic novel, was awarded at international film festivals, screened in German television and was published on DVD. As Filmmaker in Residence at the Zurich University of the Arts he explored new ways of virtual production by combining photogrammetry, motion capture, realtime rendering and VR. Besides his personal projects, he worked as a director for UFA GmbH, Intel Germany, MackMedia and Mack NeXT.
“GREAT FILMMAKING REQUIRES HEART & TEAMWORK.
THAT’S WHY I LOVE THE WHOLE PROCESS, FROM WRITTEN WORDS TO POLISHED PIXELS.”
Andreas has been teaching at international film & media schools, such as the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, SAE Institute and Stockholm University of the Arts. Additionally he offers his services as a creative consultant, VFX supervisor and videographer. He lives in Ludwigsburg & Berlin.
