Andreas Dahn’s combined professional experience in visual effects (VFX) and storytelling is a rare catch.
After first internships in practical effects, he has been working as a VFX artist in Germany and India. His credits include the Emmy-awarded series GAME OF THRONES, Wes Anderson’s GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 as well as the Oscar-nominated BBC shorts THE GRUFFALO and ROOM ON THE BROOM.
At the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg he studied film directing and made multiple short films. He was awarded with scholarships at the University of California (UCLA) and the European Film Academy (EFA). His thesis film DER SANDMANN, based on the famous German gothic novel, was screened at international film festivals, in German television and is published on DVD. Besides his personal projects he directed a testimonial for the UFA GmbH, a live show for Intel and has several feature films with established production companies in development.
„GREAT FILMMAKING REQUIRES HEART & TEAMWORK IN EVERY STEP.
THAT’S WHY I LOVE THE WHOLE PROCESS, FROM WRITTEN WORDS TO POLISHED PIXELS.“
Andreas has been teaching at international film & media schools like the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, the SAE Institute and Zurich University of the Arts. Additionally he offers his services as a creative consultant or VFX supervisor. He lives in Ludwigsburg & Berlin.
